Welcome
The United Nations Humanitarian Air Service started its activities in Niger in june 2008, in order to respond to challenges posed by the lack of safe and reliable air services in the region, in a deteriorated security environment.

UNHAS Niger objectives are :

  • to provide to the entire humanitarian community in Niger a reliable, safe, efficient and cost- effective inter-agency air transport service in order to reinforce the efficiency of the humanitarian response in Niger;
  • to permit the transportation of humanitarian freight
  • to insure medical evacuation (medevac) and security evacuation when needed

Background
UNHAS Niger flights are opened to UN staff, NGO, donors and embassy staff, media working on humanitarian subjects.

 Why a service managed by WFP ?

In 2003, the High Level Committee for Management of the UN has requested to WFP to manage all the civilian humanitarian air operations of the UN. WFP-Aviation is managing this common service for the entire humanitarian community.
